The Food And Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed telling the consumer the per cent of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for an adult contained in the various constitutes of the food product Also listed would be nutrition information about the amounts of calories protein fat and carbohydrates However Dr Paul Lachance professor of nutritional physiology at Rutgers University contends that the average consumer cannot understand what this Information means when she or he shops for food He made that point to the editors of the Sciences Journal of the New York Academy of Sciences In the article titled for he said if the information the label were related to individual meals rather than food intake per day it might be useful to the housewife or houseni'sband or house person as the Women's Movement likes to designate the keeper of the homefront Another point about all the Information proposed for labels: a shopper will have to take a magnifying glass on food-fetching excursions To get all the information on the teeny-tiniest print will need to be used Not too many adults can read that without help via magnification Putting so much information on a label may further dog aisles of supermarkets with parked carts as shoppers take time to read and digest the consumer information on the bottle or can or plastic tube or box And there's another problem: how oh how will nutritional Information be fixed to apples bananas tomatoes potatoes peaches radishes celery and such? What about fixing same to meat packages? As for the professor's contention that we're slightly Incapable of understanding nutritional information give yourself a test Define vitamin Tell the meaning of calorie Then look meanings up in a dictionary If you were wrong you're a nutritional dunce Curtains Second Floor Novelty curtains reg 598 to 698 reduced to 299 and 399 Valances to match reg 298 149 Better Dresses First Floor Famous Label fashions reduced for clearance Wide assortment of spring wools and polyester dresses and costumes Formerly 3200 to 13500 uptO Vi off Sehmlff-SfOM Mr and Mrs Raymond Schmitt of 2818 Colonial Garden Road announce the engagement of their daughter Virginia to James Stone son of Mr and Mrs James Stone of Fort Branch The wedding will be held BALDWIN PIANOS and ORGANS ARC MUSIC CENTER On Tht WmlkKnyllotcniuicm 311 MAIN ST 4224201 Floor Coverings Second Floor Carpet samples at terrific savings On sale just 75 GO Or 3200 Braid Rugs limited quantity 9x1 2 size Reg 4400 to 59952900 to 3900 Junior Shop First-Floor Dresses in Junior sizes reduces for clearance Late spring styles and fabrics Formerly 2000 to 5000 UptO 50 off SPRING WIG SALES The Egg and You Jeans Famous maker denim and corduroy Reg 800 to 1400 5 Furniture Second Floor Sofas and chairs in discontinued fabrics and styles Sofas reg 38100 to 88600 29900 to 74100 Chairs reg 1 8900 to 39900 12900 to 29100 CAPLESS NATURAL SKIN PART GYPSY WIGS SALE PRICE $18M Rg S2493 protein and riboflavin (Vitamin B-2) as well as smaller amounts of many other nutrients The thick white cord-like material located on the opposite sides of the egg yolk is called the chalaza It Is a normal part of the egg The chalaza holds the yolk in place in the white £gg protein is so near perfection that scientists often use it as a standard to measure the value of protein in other foods Eggs are an important easily and completely digested food for all ages from Infancy to old age When buying eggs look for the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) Shield It tells you grade quality and size The shield usually is on the carton or on a tape sealing the carton Egg prices vary by size for the same grade the Department of Agriculture reports Generally speaking if there is less than a seven cent price spread per dozen eggs between one size end the next smaller size in the same grade you will get more for your money by buying the larger size The US Department of Agriculture says so Here are other egg tips: Buy eggs from a refrigerated case Refrigerate eggs promptly at home large end up to help maintain quality Variations In temperature while the eggs are stored cause egg whites to become thin Use only high-quality clean eggs with sound shells when making egg nogs milk shakes or lightly cooked dishes Cook eggs at low to moderate temperatures High temperatures and dver-cooking toughen eggs Eggs contain significant amounts of vitamin A iron LUXURIOUS DOME WIGLETS LONG CASCADES China Second Floor Fostoris pebble beach pattern in lemon twist and orange colors Group includes salad plates sherbets tumblers and nappies Reg 425 to 500 21 5 to 250 THINK CHILDCRAFT Shop Sunday 1 'til 5 Monday through Saturday 10 'til 9 i I A A iAMAA A A A A A A A AA A A A A A.
