Indiana Lois Jean (Phillips) (Topper) Bormann Tennyson, Ind. Th headline in this newspaper today should have read, World Mourns Death of Best Lois Jean passed away peacefully August 31, 2012, after a short hospital stay; she was 91 and spiritually ready to join her Lord and Savior. Her spirit had a difficult time, however, overcoming that tired, worn-out body because she loved her life and her family so profoundly. Her will was confirmed by the hospital staff who cared for her at the end, remarking repeatedly about her "iron In the end, realizing the inevitability, she relinquished her grip on this worldly life and went to celebrate with all those many loved ones who have gone before. Born to Truman and Gertrude Phillips on May 12, 1921, she survived her parents and brothers, Lowell and Jack.

Her first husband, John E. Topper, died in 1962, and her second, Arthur Bormann, preceded her in 1987. She lost the sunshine of her life and closest friend, daughter Nancy, in 2004. She is survived by her children, John Topper (Janet), of Santa Claus, Danny Topper (Joyce), of Boonville, Phillip Topper (Cydney), of Covington, Gregg Bormann (Deena), of Woolwich Township, N. Carol (Leo) Hodes, of Fishers, and, Gale Ann (Paul) Chilton, of Naperville, Ill.

Eighteen grandchildren will miss her festive parties as will 31 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. The last of her generation, she became the matriarch of her family in her typical unassuming manner. She lived with dignity in any circumstance and always served as a proper example for her family. In her inimitable, unselfish fashion to the very end, she admonished, "Have my service on a weekend so the children won't have to miss school." Lois Jean has suffered through some difficult medical issues in recent years. Those difficulties were mitigated to a large extent by hospice organizations and their dedicated support staff.

Donations to Community Home Health Services of Indianapolis would please her. Arrangements are under the direction of Koehler Funeral Home, Boonville. Viewing will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2012, and from 9 a.m.

until service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 4,2012, at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, followed by burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. A reception celebrating Lois Jean's life will be held at the First Christian Church, 505 North 4th Street, Boonville immediately following the short graveside service for all of her family and friends. Memorial contributions in memory of Lois may be made to Community Home Health Services 9894 East 121st St. Fishers, Indiana 46037.
